Literature Text
When I grow up,
I want to be
a ballerina astronaut
dancing among the stars.
As I twirl in my tutu
in the planetarium lobby,
I fall, twisting my ankle.
Such dreams are no more.
When I graduate high school,
I want to go to college
to become a teacher, perhaps,
or a webpage designer
able to put dreams on screen.
However, when I start
missing class due to migraine,
I know these castles in the clouds
are not to be.
When I feel better,
I want to be
a writer of tales
that send shivers down spines,
poetry that takes
breaths away.
As weeks stretch into months into years,
I wonder if I will ever
be able to be what I want to be.
I write anyway, praying
to gods I don't truly feel,
endorphins released to
make me feel better about
myself. I am working
as hard as I can, what with
body chemicals dictating
how I live my life.

The Storm
What can you do?What can I do?...
As the rain falls and the lightning strikes.
As I sit and I watch
The downpour outside
And I think how unfair it is
That my mom made me stay inside!
You'll get hit by lightning!
But then I insist
She says okay be careful then...
I skip outside, and I start to dance!
I am just happy
A happy little guy!
As I dance in the rain...
Hail starts to happen.
It rattles my scalp
I start to run
The wind starts blowing....
Blowing me away!
I scream in fear
I should have listened!
I fly through the sky
And I get slammed to the ground
I get ripped up!...
By the furious twister!
It really kind of hurts...
Now I am

Sea-Storm
Flashing, roaring, racing lightning
Burns away the cloying dark.
Clouds are waves upon the cliff
Of blue sky, rolling endlessly into the cold
Void of the heavens. The winds hound
The clouds into the void above.
Clouds boil into being above
And between them flickers pale lightning.
Baying at the sky, lean hounds'
Voices are lost in the thunder echoing from the dark.
The winds build, blowing cold
Down the clouds in the sky, tall like cliffs.
The sea, storm-driven, beats against the cliffs,
Spraying spume to the ledges above.
The waves clamour and duel, cold
In their roaring wrath, cold as the pale lightning
Which sunders and routs the dark,

Literature
The Age of Storms
A darkening storm journeys the sky
And in the maelstrom we pause reflecting on the thoughts
within
Thunder rolls and lightning will fly
We remind ourselves of what is lost and how it could have
been
Rain falls on parched thirsty souls
They cry out for peace, salvation, a shield from the hatred
It hisses and sparks like water on coals
And we feel hopeless, lost, that this should have been
anticipated
So when nothing is done fear settles into our heart
What we sought to be saved from we perpetuate instead
Then we cry out in anger over what we think is the wrongdoers
part
Hatred grows in our souls until they too become blackened
